This hand-cut blue pietersite evokes crashing waves on a rocky shore.

Although similar, Tiger's Eye is a macrocrystalline quartz and Pietersite is a chalcedony (microcrystalline quartz). This stone is very rare and only has two known localities, with only one of them still being active. This is because of the rarity and limited quantity of the stone making it highly valuable and expensive.

Pietersite, also called "eagle's eye," was named in honor of Sid Pieters, who discovered it in 1962 in Namibia, Africa. Pietersite is a trade name for a dark blue-grey breccia aggregate made up mainly of hawk's eye and tiger's eye.

Blue Pietersite, free form, hand cut by Lisete Cerqueira.
