This is a gorgeous example of faceted ametrine, which is a naturally occurring rare incidence of amethyst and citrine in the same gemstone. The stone will show more purple tones or more golden hues depending on how you slant it in the light. At whichever angle you hold it, however, it is never quite entirely purple or completely golden, with a hint of the contrasting colour always showing through.
The central gemstone is flanked by four small faceted amethysts, two 3-mm stones and two 2-mm stones. These four gemstones provide a pleasing complement to the lavender hues of the main stone.
The setting is sterling silver with patinas of black rhodium and 22-karat yellow gold. The inside of the band is flattened for greater comfort. The cradle for the ametrine has numerous cutouts to allow light to enter the bottom of the gemstone, enhancing its natural glow.
